Understanding Herbal Snack

  1. 01

Where Does TCM Food Therapy Come From?

Food therapy is one of the oldest branches of Chinese medicine. Traditional texts describe each food as having its own nature (warming, cooling or neutral) and flavour, and recommend choosing foods to suit the season and your constitution[1].

Many herbs, such as goji berry, jujube, Chinese yam and lotus seed, are traditionally treated as both food and gentle remedy[2]. Our herbal snack blends ingredients like these with other nourishing foods, chosen in TCM terms to support digestion, replenish Qi and help balance the body’s inner harmony.

    What Does the Research Say?

Researchers have taken a growing interest in “medicine food homology” ingredients, which appear on an official Chinese list of foods that may also be used in traditional medicine. Many are now used in modern functional foods, and studies have looked at their nutrients and plant compounds[2].

Reviews of TCM food therapy note that it fits well with modern ideas of healthy eating, but that more clinical research is needed[1]. We offer our herbal snack as a nutritious part of a balanced diet, not as a treatment.
